Working together for the betterment of our communities and environment.

Caring for our environment, our people, and our future

At Matassa Property Services, we believe sustainability is more than a trend it’s a responsibility. From the way we operate on-site to the products we use, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and helping protect Aotearoa for future generations.

Working in a sector that involves chemicals, materials, and waste, we know we have a duty to make smart, responsible choices. That’s why sustainability is embedded into our processes, training, and day-to-day practices.

Proud to be a Resene Eco Decorator

Matassa is proud to be a certified Resene Eco Decorator, a trusted mark of environmental responsibility within the painting industry. This certification recognises our commitment to sustainable practices, including:

  • Using low-VOC and waterborne paints wherever possible
  • Managing waste responsibly and disposing of materials correctly
  • Keeping clean, tidy, and safe worksites
  • Following best practice environmental guidelines and site audits

Being a Resene Eco Decorator means our team is trained to consider the environmental impact of every job, while still delivering the highest standard of finish and durability.

Our Environmental Practices

Enviro-wash Paint Disposal
To reduce the impact of wash-out waste, we use an innovative water-based treatment system. This technology converts leftover paint wash from brushes and rollers into clean water and solid waste that can be disposed of safely — preventing contamination of waterways or landfill.

Water-Based Paints
Wherever practical, we use high-performance water-based paints to significantly lower VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions. This reduces harmful fumes, supports healthier environments, and helps lower our carbon footprint without compromising on quality.

Smarter Waste Management
We minimise waste by planning accurately, recycling materials where possible, and working with suppliers who share our environmental values. On-site, our teams are trained to reduce offcuts, manage chemical handling, and protect surrounding ecosystems during work.

Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we’re committed to continuous improvement. Every small decision adds up to something bigger — cleaner sites, safer communities, and a healthier environment for everyone.

If you’re looking to partner with a contractor who takes sustainability seriously, we’d love to hear from you.
